Grape seed extract (GSE) is produced from the seeds of Vitis vinifera through aqueous-ethanol extraction and spray-drying. It is one of the most concentrated natural sources of oligomeric proanthocyanidins (OPCs), which are 20-50 times more potent as antioxidants than vitamins C and E. The extract also contains catechins, epicatechins, gallic acid, and polymeric procyanidins.
Clinical evidence supports GSE for improving vascular health. This reduces oxidative stress. It supports healthy blood pressure, and protecting against UV-induced skin damage. It is commercially one of the best-selling botanical extracts in dietary supplements, cosmetics, and functional foods.
