Kaempferol (3,4',5,7-tetrahydroxyflavone) is a naturally occurring flavonol found in tea, broccoli, apples, strawberries, Ginkgo biloba, and Sophora japonica. It is extracted from plant sources using ethanol-water methods and purified by chromatography, or produced through enzymatic hydrolysis of kaempferitrin.
Kaempferol demonstrates potent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anticancer, and cardioprotective activities in preclinical research. It modulates multiple signaling pathways including NF-kB, MAPK, and PI3K/Akt. Commercially, kaempferol is used in antioxidant supplements, pharmaceutical research, cosmeceutical formulations, and as an analytical reference standard.
