Yucca extract is obtained from the trunk and root of Yucca schidigera (Mojave yucca), a desert plant native to the southwestern United States and Mexico. Extraction produces either a liquid concentrate or spray-dried powder rich in steroidal saponins, polyphenols, and resveratrol.
The saponin content provides natural surfactant and foaming properties, while also binding ammonia and hydrogen sulfide. Yucca extract is clinically supported for reducing joint inflammation and has GRAS status for food use. Commercially, it is widely used as a natural foaming agent in beverages, an ammonia-reducing feed additive for livestock, an anti-inflammatory supplement ingredient, and a natural surfactant in food processing.
