Cinnamic Acid (C₆H₅CH=CHCOOH) is a naturally occurring aromatic acid found in cinnamon bark, balsams (Peru, Tolu), shea butter and other plants.
It provides a honey-like, balsamic aroma. Used as a flavouring agent, fragrance ingredient, and precursor for synthesising cinnamate esters (sunscreen UV filters), pharmaceutical intermediates and agrochemicals.
