Ginger Essential Oil is obtained by steam distillation of fresh or dried ginger rhizomes. Unlike ginger oleoresin, the essential oil contains primarily the volatile aromatic compounds (zingiberene, beta-sesquiphellandrene, ar-curcumene, citral) without the pungent gingerols (which are non-volatile).
This gives it a warm, fresh, spicy-citrusy aroma without the sharp bite. Used in food flavouring, fragrance, aromatherapy and pharmaceutical applications.
