Hesperidin methyl chalcone (HMC) is a semi-synthetic chalcone derivative of hesperidin, produced by alkaline ring-opening and methylation of the parent flavanone. This structural modification significantly enhances water solubility and bioavailability compared to native hesperidin.
HMC is a key component of pharmaceutical and cosmeceutical formulations targeting vascular permeability, edema reduction, and microcirculation improvement. It is clinically used in combination with ascorbic acid and rutoside for capillary fragility and bruising. Commercially, HMC is applied in vein health pharmaceuticals, under-eye dark circle treatments, and cosmeceutical products.
