Light Calcium Carbonate is produced by the carbonation method — dissolving calcium oxide in water to form Ca(OH)₂, then bubbling CO₂ through the slurry to precipitate fine CaCO₃ crystals.
The precipitated form has a lower bulk density, smaller particle size and higher whiteness than ground (heavy) calcium carbonate. Used as a calcium fortifier, antacid, filler and white pigment.
