Magnesium Carbonate (MgCO₃) occurs naturally as magnesite and is produced synthetically in light (fluffy) and heavy (dense) grades.
In food it serves as an anti-caking agent for table salt and powdered foods, an acidity regulator, a magnesium supplement (29% Mg), and a processing aid. Also widely used in pharmaceutical antacid formulations and as a drying/bulking agent in cosmetics and sports (gym chalk).
