Zinc Glycinate

Zinc Glycinate is a chelated form of zinc bound to two molecules of glycine, significantly enhancing bioavailability and gastrointestinal tolerance compared to inorganic zinc salts. It is a preferred form for dietary supplements and food fortification.

Zinc Glycinate, also known as zinc bisglycinate, is a mineral amino acid chelate formed through the reaction of zinc with glycine. The chelation protects zinc from interactions with dietary inhibitors such as phytates, resulting in superior absorption in the small intestine. Studies demonstrate significantly higher bioavailability than zinc gluconate, oxide, and sulfate, often allowing lower dosages. The gentle chelated form minimizes nausea and stomach irritation. It typically provides 20-30% elemental zinc by weight.
