Sophoricoside is an isoflavone glycoside (genistein-4'-O-glucoside) isolated from the ripe fruit (Huai Jiao) of Styphnolobium japonicum (Sophora japonica). It is extracted using ethanol-water methods and purified by chromatographic techniques.
Sophoricoside demonstrates phytoestrogenic activity through selective estrogen receptor modulation, along with anti-inflammatory, anti-osteoporotic, and hepatoprotective properties. As the glycoside form of genistein, it offers improved water solubility and bioavailability characteristics. Commercially, sophoricoside is used in women's health supplements, bone density support formulations, pharmaceutical research, and as an analytical reference standard.
