Chamomile apigenin is extracted from the flowers of Matricaria chamomilla (German chamomile), one of the richest natural sources of the flavone apigenin. The extraction process involves hydroethanolic methods followed by purification to achieve standardized apigenin content. Apigenin binds to GABA-A receptors.
This produces anxiolytic and mild sedative effects that promote relaxation and sleep quality. The extract also contains bisabolol, chamazulene, and other flavonoids with anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic properties. It is commercially applied in sleep support supplements, calming functional beverages, and stress-relief nutraceuticals.
