Enramycin is a polypeptide antibiotic produced by the fermentation of Streptomyces fungicidicus. The 8% premix formulation contains 80 g of active enramycin per kilogram, blended with a suitable carrier for uniform mixing into compound animal feeds. Enramycin acts primarily against gram-positive bacteria in the gastrointestinal tract, particularly Clostridium perfringens, the causative agent of necrotic enteritis in poultry.
As a non-absorbed antibiotic, enramycin exerts its effects locally in the gut. It improves nutrient absorption and feed conversion efficiency without significant systemic exposure. The 8% premix format is designed for convenient and accurate incorporation into feed formulations at commercial feed mills. Enramycin is approved for use as a feed additive in numerous countries across Asia, South America, and other regions.
