Stevia, E960, Rebaudioside A, Cas no.58543-16-1, is a natural sweetener and sugar substitute extracted from the leaves of the plant species Stevia rebaudiana. It is a white powder natural sweetener initially isolated from stevia plant. Stevia consists of 2 main ingredients Stevioside and Rebaudioside A. It is used in the food and beverage industry as low-calorie natural sweetener. Specifically, Stevia (Rebaudioside-A 98%) is used as a sucrose replacement in all types of foods and beverages. It is often used in tea, soft drinks, alcoholic beverages, canned food, dried fruit, gum, and meat products. Stevia (Rebaudioside-A 98%) has 98%~98.20% Reb-A, 0.1%~0.6% STV, and is >480 times sweeter than sucrose.     1. Allergic Reaction

    Stevia has been known to rarely cause anaphylaxis, but this is more common in those that already have an allergy to chrysanthemums, marigolds, ragweed or daisies. Those that develop an allergic reaction to stevia may see difficulty swallowing, shortness of breath, hives, dizziness, pale skin, wheezing or weakness. If you develop these symptoms after consuming stevia you should seek emergency medical treatment immediately to prevent potentially fatal complications.

    2. Upset Stomach

    Stevia sweeteners contain stevioside which may cause an upset stomach, nausea or bloating after being consumed. It may also decrease your appetite. These reactions are usually mild, but you should contact your doctor if these symptoms do not subside or if they become severe.

    3. Metabolism Change

    Experiments on animal test subjects showed that ingesting large doses of stevoside can cause interference in the way the body absorbs carbohydrates. This can limit your ability to convert food to energy.

    4. Additional Side Effects

    Other symptoms that infrequently occur when consuming Stevia products include numbness, dizziness and body aches. This dizziness can impact your ability to walk properly or stand without assistance.     Stevioside/Rebaudioside-A can be used in Food, Beverage, Pharmaceutical, Health & Personal care products, Agriculture/Animal Feed/Poultry.Stevioside/Rebaudioside-A is a white crystalline powder that is 200-400 times sweeter than sucrose and is often used in soft drinks, baked goods, pickles, fruit juices, tobacco products, confectionery uses, jams and jellies, candies, yogurts, pastries, chewing gum, sherbets, etc.

    Stevia is a new natural sweetener which is extracted from the stevia leaves (Stevia Rebaudiana Bertoni). It has a high sugar sweetness equivalent level with extremely low caloric value. Its sweetness is 200-300 times that of cane sugar and its caloric value is 1/300 that of cane sugar. After a large amount of laboratory tastings, stevia sugar has been proven to be without any toxic and side-effect, non-carcinogenic and is safe to be consumed. If taken frequently, it can prevent a lot of diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, heart disease and tooth decay, etc. It is an ideal sweetener in place of cane sugar.
