Caramel colour is manufactured by controlled heat treatment of carbohydrates (glucose, sucrose, invert sugar) with or without food-grade reactants (ammonia, sulfite compounds). The powder form offers convenience for dry blending in seasonings, instant beverages, baking mixes and snack coatings.
