Introduction

Green tea extract is produced from the unfermented leaves of Camellia sinensis through aqueous-ethanol extraction and spray-drying. It is standardized for total catechins, with epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) as the principal bioactive polyphenol.

Green tea catechins are among the most extensively studied phytochemicals, with evidence supporting thermogenesis, fat oxidation, antioxidant protection, and cardiovascular health. The extract also contains caffeine, L-theanine, and other polyphenols.
